2006 Poinsettia BowlThe TCU Horned Frogs used a balanced offensive attack and stifling defense to defeat the Northern Illinois Huskies 37-7 in the second annual San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl. The Northern Illinois offense couldn't get on track as the NCAA's leading rusher, Garrett Wolfe, was held to 28 yards rushing. The TCU defense held the Huskies to -20 yards rushing and 60 yards of total offense for the game.

TCU quarterback Jeff Ballard was named the game's Offensive MVP. Ballard rushed for 3 touchdowns and threw for another. The Horned Frogs' defensive end Tommy Blake finished with two sacks on the night and took home the Defensive MVP trophy.
